About the Hike:
The Kedron Flume Trail is used by hikers to access 4000-footer Mt. Willey, but along the way, the trail crosses Kedron Flume, a long series of cascades. It's only a mile up the trail and hiking to it does not involve any serious climbing. Although estimated to drop a total of 600 feet on its way down the eastern slopes of the Willey Range, only a few low-angle cascades and small pools can be seen from the trail. Still, Kedron Flume is worth the small effort needed to see it.

The trail begins at a picnic area to the left of the gift shop and visitor center. It climbs steadily by two very long switchbacks to cross the Conway Scenic Railroad in 0.4 miles. The trail makes another switchback at the railroad tracks, then climbs moderately across the slope for half a mile before make a short descent to Kedron Flume. When you arrive at the flume, you will be able to look up and see three long cascades, separated by pools. In addition to the water, there is a restricted view across the notch at the side of Mt. Webster.
